Pascal starts by orienting, training, and educating Partner staff and caregivers about the research underpinning and the best practices supporting the use of clinical triggers to measure harm accurately, as well as how event reporting can remain a complementary source of learning. Pascal draws on the expertise and insights of one of the world’s leading faculties in adverse event management, including Dr. Allan Frankel, Dr. Michael Leonard, Dr. Roger Resar, and Dr. David Classen, who pioneered and has published extensively the use of electronic adverse event detection at Intermountain Healthcare and co-developed with Dr. Resar and others the IHI Global Trigger Tool*.

With the Partner’s team members oriented and trained, Pascal implements its Risk Trigger solution which uses robust adverse event data to generate reliable measures of harm. Pascal’s technical solutions that ingress data are flexibly tailored based on a Partner’s clinical objectives and its IT environment.

Learn

Pascal’s leading clinical and scientific experts, renowned in the field of trigger-driven adverse event detection and management, then lead a Partner in a Leadership Briefing designed to provide recommendations as the Partner then uses the adverse event data and harms reporting to identify sources of vulnerability as well as provide guidance for how a healthcare system can develop its clinical program to reduce harm and related costs.

Analyze

Resulting reporting and analytics on Pascal HealthBench® then enable Partners to measure, monitor, and track harm on an ongoing basis both at a finer-grained level as well as across an entire healthcare system. Partners take advantage of powerful analytics on a web-based platform, Pascal HealthBench®, in order to identify and track trigger-driven adverse events and specific harm with a range of reports, heat maps, scatter plots, and other interactive tools.

Intervene

Supported by Pascal’s Clinical group and using harm analytics on Pascal HealthBench®, Partners execute focused interventions on an ongoing basis. Trained on the field-leading web-based platform, Pascal HealthBench®, and drawing on one of the world’s foremost adverse event management clinical teams, Partners use Pascal’s clinical guidance, coaching, and problem-solving assistance for their data-driven intervention efforts along with powerful real or near real time tools. Clinical interventions are conducted by the Partner in close collaboration with Pascal’s Clinical group.
